The Regulatory Craft Conference
Nova Scotia Environment and Nova Scotia Labour and Advanced Education will be hosting our 3rd annual Regulatory Craft Conference on September 29 – October 1, 2008 at the Halifax Marriot Harbourfront Hotel. The conference is sponsored by our Competitiveness and Compliance Initiative (CCI), which strives to achieve regulatory excellence across both departments.
The purpose of the conference is to allow public servants in Nova Scotia to share practices and learn from other leading jurisdictions. By improving our regulatory practice, the government of Nova Scotia will ensure a brighter future for our people, economy, environment and communities.

Join us September 29th & 30th, 2008 for the main conference where you will learn about best practices for design, effective implementation and continuous improvement of regulatory and non-regulatory programs.
On October 1st, we are hosting a full-day interactive workshop with Professor Malcolm Sparrow. Professor Sparrow will address the operational mechanisms needed to support the "regulatory craft".

Professor Malcolm K. Sparrow
Malcolm Sparrow is an expert on regulation and risk management and a professor at Harvard University.
Dr. James T. Reese
Dr. Reese is an internationally known, award winning authority in the areas of leadership, stress management, violence, motivation, criminal profiling, and related topics.

The primary audience for this conference is provincial government staff involved in the design, implementation, communication or evaluation of regulation or policy.
