Provides advice and manages communications with the public

Labour Services Branch
Labour Services
Provides services to licensing and regulating agencies
Labour Standards
Promotes employment standards, and fair processes for wage compensation
Pension Regulation
Protects the interests of private and municipal pension plan members
Workers' Advisers Program
Provides assistance to injured workers denied benefits under the Workers' Compensation Act

Policy, Planning and Professional Services Branch
Policy and Planning
Provides policy planning and development for the department
Professional Services
Provides administrative support for the department

Safety Branch
Alcohol and Gaming
Protects the public interest in gaming, sale of liquor, film distribution
Building, Fire and Technical Safety and Office of the Fire Marshall
Promotes protection of property, and safe facilities and equipment
Occupational Health and Safety
Promoting safe and healthy workplaces/work practices

Skills and Learning Branch
Adult Education
The Nova Scotia School for Adult Learning (NSSAL) offers programs for adult Nova Scotians who want to improve their literacy skills.
Apprenticeship Training and Skills Development
Promotes apprenticeship, adult education, labour market information and job training
Employment Nova Scotia
Helps Nova Scotians meet their full employment potential, and helps employers find the employees they need to prosper
Labour Market Partnerships
Works collaboratively with government, industry, labour, and education providers to identify opportunities, provide information, and stimulate the development of policies, strategies, and initiatives that will keep Nova Scotia working.
