Clause 1 expands the definition of a trade to include a sub-trade.
Clause 2 adds authority for the Director of Apprenticeship and Trades Qualifications to issue a certificate of proficiency to a person who is unable to pass a written exam, but who, through practical skills, has demonstrated that they meet the requirements and standards of the trade.
Clause 3 adds authority for the Governor in Council to make regulations respecting trades and respecting the issuance of post-journey person certificate endorsements.
Clause 4 provides that the Act comes into force on proclamation.
1 Clause 2(v) of Chapter 1 of the Acts of 2003, the Apprenticeship and Trades Qualifications Act, is amended by adding "sub-trade or a" immediately after "a" the first time it appears in clause (v).
2 (1) Section 21 of Chapter 1 is amended by adding immediately after subsection (1) the following subsection:
(2) Subsection 21(2) of Chapter 1 is amended by adding "or (1A)" immediately after "(1)" in the second line.
3 Subsection 29(1) of Chapter 1 is amended by
(a) adding immediately after clause (b) the following clause:
and
(b) adding immediately after clause (y) the following clause:
4 This Act comes into force on such day as the Governor in Council orders and declares by proclamation.
