This Bill requires the establishment of a special management zone of 100 metres along the boundaries of a watercourse, where the average width of a watercourse on or adjacent to forest land on which a forestry operation is carried out is equal to or greater than 50 centimetres.

1 Chapter 179 of the Revised Statutes, 1989, the Forests Act, is amended by adding immediately after Section 9 the following Section:

9A Where the average width of a watercourse situated on or adjacent to forest land on which a forestry operation is carried on is equal to or greater than 50 centimetres, a forestry operator shall establish or ensure the establishment of a special management zone of at least 100 metres in width along all boundaries of the watercourse.
