STANDING COMMITTEE ON HUMAN RESOURCES
9:00 A.M.
CHAIRMAN
Mr. Ronald Chisholm
MR. CHAIRMAN: I will call the Standing Committee on Human Resources to order. We will deal with the agencies, boards and commissions. We can start with Mr. DeWolfe.
MR. JAMES DEWOLFE: Mr. Chairman, I think it is only fitting that we introduce Judy Streatch to the committee members. I know you are going to see a lot more of Judy when the House opens in a few days.
MR. CHAIRMAN: Maybe for the record we should just go around the table and introduce ourselves.
[The committee members introduced themselves.]
MR. DEWOLFE: Mr. Chairman, to the Department of Community Services, Kings Regional Rehabilitation Centre, I so move Randy Holmesdale as a member.
MR. CHAIRMAN: Are you ready for the question? Would all those in favour of the motion please say Aye. Contrary minded, Nay.
The motion is carried.
MS. JUDY STREATCH: Nothing like being in the hot seat the very first day, Mr. Chairman. Thank you very much for the welcome, everybody.
To the Department of Education, Cumberland Regional Library Board, I so move Paul Hopper and Sara MacRae as members.

MR. CHAIRMAN: Are you ready for the question? Would all those in favour of the motion please say Aye. Contrary minded, Nay.
The motion is carried.
MS. STREATCH: Mr. Chairman, to the Teachers College Foundation Board of Governors, I so move John N. Grant, Gordon Jeffery, Donna MacDonald and David White as members.
MR. CHAIRMAN: Are you ready for the question? Would all those in favour of the motion please say Aye. Contrary minded, Nay.
The motion is carried.
MR. DEWOLFE: Mr. Chairman, with the permission of the committee, under the Department of Health and the health authorities, I wonder if we might move those en bloc for the various districts.
MR. CHAIRMAN: Is it agreed?
MR. DEWOLFE: I'm awaiting direction from the committee members.
MR. CHAIRMAN: There are nine districts plus the Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre.
MR. FRANK CORBETT: I have no problem with that.
MR. CHAIRMAN: I think all of those are reappointments, anyway, from what I understand.
MR. CORBETT: They aren't all reappointments.
MR. CHAIRMAN: No, you're right, there's one from Antigonish, District 7.
MR. CORBETT: With that said, I'm very pliable here, I'll go either way.
MR. CHAIRMAN: Mr. Colwell.
MR. KEITH COLWELL: I don't think I have a problem with that - just one second. No, no problem.
[Page 3]
MR. DEWOLFE: Mr. Chairman, hearing nobody has any concerns, I so move all the names that you have presented on the sheets, including the Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre. That would be the nine districts plus the QE II.
MR. CHAIRMAN: Are you ready for the question? Would all those in favour of the motion please say Aye. Contrary minded, Nay.
The motion is carried.
MS. STREATCH: Mr. Chairman, under the Public Service Commission, to the Advisory Council on the Status of Women, I so move the names so listed, en bloc, if that would be acceptable.
MR. COLWELL: No problem.
MR. CHAIRMAN: Are you ready for the question? Would all those in favour of the motion please say Aye. Contrary minded, Nay.
The motion is carried.
MR. DEWOLFE: Mr. Chairman, to the Department of Community Services, Kings Regional Rehabilitation Centre . . .
MR. CHAIRMAN: We did that one, you're starting over again.
MR. DEWOLFE: That's right.
MR. CHAIRMAN: Is there any further business? If not, our next meeting date is October 25th when we'll deal with the ABCs again. A motion to adjourn is in order.
MR. COLWELL: I so move.
MR. CHAIRMAN: The meeting is adjourned.
[The committee adjourned at 9:13 a.m.]
