Provincial Volunteer Awards, April 2, 2012
The Honourable Marilyn More, the Minister responsible for the Voluntary Sector, thanked 69 outstanding volunteers across the province at the 38th annual Provincial Volunteer Awards ceremony. Minister More recognized the volunteers, including firefighters, care workers, basketball coaches, ground search and rescue, for the countless hours spent helping others and making Nova Scotia communities better places to live. Youth Nominee Luncheon, March 28th, 2011
Twenty seven youth nominated for the Crime Prevention award and the youth specialty award of the Provincial Volunteer Awards came to Dartmouth to have lunch with the Minister of the Voluntary Sector, Marilyn More, and to talk about their volunteer work. Also attending were the Minister of Community Services, Denise Peterson-Rafuse, the Minister of Youth, Ramona Jennex, and MLA Becky Kent. Table discussions between the youth and government representatives were facilitated by youth leaders (Leaders of Today). Youth enjoyed the chance to network, to share their knowledge and experiences with government, while having a bit of fun. Read the release
