Metal Fabricator (Fitter)

Background:

The Apprenticeship and Trades Qualifications Act and General Regulations were proclaimed on July 1, 2003. Subsequently, all existing trade regulations need to be reviewed to ensure they meet the needs of industry under the current Act. The Board established an ad hoc advisory committee in March 2010 to review the trade regulation for the Metal Fabricator (Fitter) trade.

  • On May 7th, the committee reviewed the current regulation and made amendments.
  • Draft regulation was sent out for industry consultation May 14 - 28th, 2010.
  • Very little feedback, no issues.
  • Draft regulation to be presented before the Nova Scotia Apprenticeship Board on September 15, 2010
