The 16th Apprenticeship Celebration Event was held on May 29, 2010 at the Membertou Trade and Convention Center, Membertou, NS. The event was a great success and $13,000 in sponsorships and prizes was collected from 15 industry sponsors.
During the event, guest speaker Lloyd Mombourquette, spoke to the group about his journey through apprenticeship training. Later in the evening, the Apprenticeship Board presented the Apprentice Award of Excellence to Vaughn Morrison, a recent graduate of the Automotive Service Technician program. Vaughn was nominated by his employer, Kathy Reashore of Reashore's Auto Repair. Edwin Boudreau, Shift Supervisor at Nova Scotia Power Inc., was awarded the Mentor Coach award. Edwin was nominated by his apprentice, Jody MacLeod. There were approximately 130 people in attendance with 28 being apprentice graduates. Thank you to everyone who came out for this event, and congratulations to the newly certified journeypersons.
