Alarm and Security Technician
- Alarm and Security Technician became a designated trade in Nova Scotia on May 8, 2000 without regulation.
- The Apprenticeship and Trades Qualifications Act & General Regulations was proclaimed on July 1, 2003.
- Industry requested the development of trade regulations for the Alarm and Security Technician trade and an ad hoc advisory committee (AHAC) was struck in July 2003 to develop a regulation.

- Consultation was held with industry organizations across Nova Scotia between June and September 2005. There was no negative feedback received.
- In the Fall of 2005, the committee chair presented the draft regulation before the Nova Scotia Apprenticeship Board.
- The Board confirmed the recommendations of the AHAC to approve the new regulations for the Alarm and Security Technician trade.
- Regulation is currently under legal review.
