Registry of Regulations
For example, let's suppose that Section 3 of a hypothetical set of regulations is amended. The consolidation for that set of regulations would show Section 3, as amended, plus a note indicating the regulations which amended it, like so:
The original regulation number, as well as the latest amending regulation number are always found at the beginning of our consolidations, like so:
Thus, the above regulations would have originated with N.S. Reg. 0/99 and are consolidated up to N.S. Reg. 00/99, with the dates indicating the day the regulations were made. "As amended up to and including" or "as amended up to" indicates that there is more than one amendment to these regulations. If there were only one amendment, the title would read "as amended by".
The full text of most of Nova Scotia's regulations are available online. If the regulations are available online, you will see a link to the online version next to the name of the regulations in the Regulations by Act index.
Not included are regulations that were dispensed from publication by the Governor in Council, and some regulations with a limited application. Also, portions of regulations that consist of forms, graphics or other heavily formatted pages may not be included except by reference.
If there is no online version of the regulations you require, or you want a copy of the paper document, you can order copies from us.
New regulation numbers are entered into the Regulations by Act index within 24 hours of filing at the Registry of Regulations. The full text of the new or amended regulations is uploaded later, within 2 weeks after publication in the Royal Gazette Part II. When we enter the new regulation information, we place a note under the regulation listing indicating the update until the full-text version of the new regulations or consolidation is available.
Formatting of the HTML versions of the regulations differs from that of the official, printed versions. Because the text is flush-left without indentation, it may be more difficult to follow. Our Style and Procedures Manual contains information on the numbering and lettering system used for regulations.
