Nova Scotia Crime Prevention Symposium

25th Annual Atlantic Crime Prevention Conference, May 4-6, 2011
"Safe Schools – Strong communities: A Crime Prevention Approach"

This year, the Department of Justice is partnering with the Crime Prevention Societies of Nova Scotia together with the National Crime Prevention Center and the Atlantic Coordinating Committee on Crime Prevention to co-host the 25th annual regional conference:

Safe Schools – Strong Communities:
A Crime Prevention Approach

25th Annual Atlantic Crime Prevention Conference
May 4th – 6th, 2011
Four Points Sheraton Hotel
1496 Hollis St., Halifax, NS

The 2011 conference will raise awareness of promising practices and programs in addressing, improving and promoting a safer school environment, and provide tools to help community improve safety. It will also identify and bring together the crime prevention and community safety community with educators and municipal leaders so that they have opportunities to explore options and potential strategies around community safety.

This conference is an invaluable resource for anyone interested in making Atlantic Canada a safer place to live. Conference participants are expected to include 200 of Atlantic Canada’s crime prevention stakeholders including police officers, crime prevention professionals, school educators, academic researchers, community members, managers and policy advisors, health and social development professionals, volunteers, as well as business and community leaders with an interest in crime prevention.

The Nova Scotia Department of Justice, rather than holding its own annual crime prevention symposium, took the initiative to join the ACC conference as part of its ongoing commitment to building safer communities in Nova Scotia. The annual Minister’s Award for Leadership in Crime Prevention will be presented at the conference (for more information visit the Awards page here).
