Application Process: Time Period

Provided that the request for information has been directed to the right public body, that organization must provide a response in writing to the applicant within 30 days.

This time period may be extended if: a large volume of records are involved or must be searched; more time is needed to locate the information; third parties need to be contacted; or the applicant has not provided enough information to find the records. These delays may result in the response time being extended another 30 days. If the extension needed is greater than 30 days, permission must be sought from the FOIPOP Review Officer.
