Backgrounder

  • Office is part of the Nova Scotia Department of Intergovernmental Affairs
  • Senior representative - Ian Thompson
  • Office officially opens February 6, 2006
  • Nova Scotia is 9th province or territory to open an Ottawa office.
  • Annual cost of operating the office will be approximately $400,000.

Office details

  • Location: Constitution Square, 350 Albert St., Ottawa, ON
  • Within walking distance to Parliament Hill, the Privy Council Office, Treasury Board and other key federal government offices.
  • Square footage of 1,460 sq ft. including: four offices, reception area, photocopier room, and boardroom.
  • Also have access to larger boardrooms and meeting rooms within Constitution Square office complex.
  • Transportation and Public Works worked with a real estate broker in Ottawa to find the best location. Ten properties were initially considered, and that was reduced to four after a preliminary analysis. Constitution Square was the best value for the province.
  • Lease will cost $292,531 over five years. Lease became effective December 1, 2005.
