It's not the drinking,
it's how you drink

Having a few drinks every now and then is one thing. But drinking more alcohol than your body can handle puts you at risk of passing out, memory loss, impaired judgment, blackouts, vomiting, injury, and — worst of all — alcohol overdose.

A yellow flag means "warning"

How can you tell if you or a friend are crossing the line to that "one-too-many" territory? There are certain signs — we call them "yellow flag moments" — that could signal the beginning of future problems. If you and your friends drink, chances are you've experienced one or two of these warning signs before. If they happen a lot, you could be on an unhealthy, possibly harmful path.

Recognize any of these yellow flag moments in your friends or yourself?

  • Drinking to escape stress or feel more confident
  • Drinking is the main reason to get together with friends
  • Missing work or skipping class because of drinking
  • Feeling embarrassed or guilty after drinking
  • Trouble remembering what happened after drinking
  • Hurting yourself or someone else after drinking
  • Having unplanned and/or unprotected sex after drinking
  • Throwing up or having a hangover after a night of drinking
  • Driving after drinking

Any of these situations sound familiar? Don't let drinking take control of your life.
