The Renewal of Public Health in Nova Scotia

The Renewal of Public Health: Building a Public Health System to Meet the Needs of Nova Scotians is a report that provides direction for a strengthened public health system in Nova Scotia. This report provides the plan for renewal of the public health system, which is anticipated to be a long-term, 10-year undertaking.

Released in 2006, the report identifies 21 actions for system renewal. These actions are all major pieces of work. They are all interrelated and require the commitment of many departments, partners and organizations. Some of the actions are complete, while some are underway and are long-term or ongoing in nature.

Tracking progress is important. The following tables document the progress and highlight work underway. If you have questions or want more information, contact your local public health director or contact Public Health Renewal at healthpromotion@gov.ns.ca.
