Recreation Facility Development Grant Program

A total of $439,886 has been awarded to the following thirteen projects through the Recreation Facility Development Program:

  • Acadia University – Athletic Complex upgrades and building addition
  • Municipality of the County of Annapolis – Fundy Y renovations and redevelopment (formerly Lifeplex Wellness Centre)
  • Annapolis Valley Lake Ridge Runners Snowmobile Association – Canaan Road trail development.
  • Berwick Curling Club – replace chiller
  • Town of Bridgetown – Jubilee Park improvements
  • Canaan Heights Neighbourhood Association– community park construction
  • Clementsport Royal Canadian Legion/Community Centre hall upgrades
  •  Town of Hantsport – install outdoor splash pad
  •  Town of Kentville- playground and soccer field construction
  •  Lawrencetown and District Swimming Pool Society – outdoor swimming pool upgrades
  • New Minas Village Commission– develop a multi-use trail
  • Waterville Recreation Club – playground construction
  • Weymouth Amateur Athletic Association – Cricket field Park facility upgrade.

 

Community Recreation Capital Program

As of October 2011 a total of $51,393 has been awarded to the following eleven projects through the Community Recreation Capital Grant Program:

  1. Annapolis County Municipality – Young’s Cove Community Park upgrades
  2. Town of Annapolis Royal – soccer field improvements
  3. Central Kings Rural High School – construct an outdoor sport pad
  4. L.E. Shaw Elementary School – purchase swings
  5. École Stella Maris – playground upgrade and construct outdoor volleyball court.
  6. Cornwallis River Pathways Society – apply crusher dust on 2km of trail.
  7. Granville Centre Community Hall Society – hall upgrades
  8. Greenwood Village Commission – install in-ground sprinkler on soccer and baseball fields
  9. Lawrencetown Exhibition Youth Arena – replace header pipes
  10. Mount Rose Community Club – new septic system
  11. South Shore Annapolis Valley Recreational Trails Association – trail upgrades between New Germany to Middleton.

 

Planning Assistance Grant Program

As of October 2011 a total of $5,100 has been awarded to the following two projects through the Planning Assistance Grant Program:

  1. Weymouth Lions Club – Community Playground/Park design concept
  2. Town of Wolfville – Bike Park Design

 

Regional Development Grant Program

As of October 2011 a total of $22,714 has been awarded to the following seven projects through the Regional Development Program.  Here is a summary of projects which received funding:

  1. Annapolis East Archery – Club start up
  2. Annapolis Valley Trails Coalition – Chainsaw safety course
  3. Annapolis Valley Trails Coalition – trail signage
  4. Digby Area Recreation Commission – Skating program
  5. Municipality of Annapolis County – Books in Motion program
  6. Municipality of Annapolis County – National Recreation Summit Representative
  7. Valley District Soccer Association – purchase nets

Trail Maintenance Program

As of October 2011 a total of $8,000 has been awarded to the following  four projects through the Trail Maintenance Program.  Here is a summary of projects which received funding:

  1. Annapolis Valley Trails Coalition on behalf of its member not-for-profit organizations  (Annapolis County Trails Society, Bear River to Sissiboo Trails Association, Kings County Trails Society and the South Shore Annapolis Valley Recreational Trails Association) – complete development of respective trails and host official opening of respective trails to the public in the fall of 2011
  2. Cheverie Crossway Salt Marsh Society
  3. Digby Area Recreation Commission – Balancing Rock Trail
  4. Weymouth Waterfront Development Committee – Weymouth Storybook Trail
