Canada Games

Held every two years, alternating between summer and winter, the Canada Games are a key event in the development of Canada’s young athletes. The best in their age group, these young competitors train long and hard to be among those chosen to represent their province or territory in the Games. With the Canada Games poised as a key step in the development of our country’s future stars, Canada Games athletes are the next generation’s national, international and Olympic champions.

Since the inception of the Canada Games program in 1967, the Nova Scotia government has been a proud and enthusiastic supporter of the games. Today, the Department of Health and Wellness provides funding to Provincial Sport Organizations (PSOs) to prepare their athletes and coaches for Canada Games competitions. In addition, HPP directly funds and oversees the management and operation of Team Nova Scotia because the Games are an important opportunity for Nova Scotians to excel in sport develop skills that contribute to life-long success.
