West Nile Virus

West Nile virus (WNv) Watch for Week ending August 21, 2008

No WNv activity has been detected in Nova Scotia in the period June 2 to August 21, 2008. No humans have ever acquired West Nile virus in Nova Scotia.

Nova Scotia

West Nile virus (WNv) has not been detected in human, birds or mammals in Nova Scotia in the current period June 2 to August 21, 2008. 

Human:
No positive human case has been reported in Nova Scotia in the period from June 2 to August 21, 2008. No humans have ever acquired West Nile virus in Nova Scotia.

Birds:
During the period between week 24 and week 32 (June 8 to August 9, 2008), a total of 23 birds were tested for WNv. None were positive for WNv (Table 1).
