Injury Prevention Training

Canadian Injury Prevention & Control  Curriculum

The Canadian Injury Prevention and Control Curriculum (CIPCC) is a unique resource of over 300-pages of curriculum focused on injury prevention and control theory and practice. Participants in the Canadian Injury Prevention and Control Curriculum will gain a common understanding of injury prevention and take away a simple step-by-step process to design and carry out injury prevention initiatives. The curriculum will aid different sectors within communities to work together more effectively to accomplish their goals of reducing injury.

Course Dates: October 24, 25, and 26
Course Location: Halifax

The course is being offered free of charge, with participants receiving a certificate from the Canadian Collaborating Centers from Injury Prevention and Control upon completion. For more information contact: Christina Cormack at Nova Scotia Health Promotion and Protection at 424-1890.

During the course participants will:

  • Identify types of causes of injuries
  • Learn principles of injury prevention
  • Learn how to plan, implement and evaluate injury prevention strategies.

The overall objective of the CIPCC is to provide injury stakeholders with a basic understanding of:

  • types and causes of injury
  • principles of injury control
  • basic injury data systems
  • applied research and planning methodologies
  • program development, implementation, and evaluation

This course will help Nova Scotia's injury stakeholders to enhance their ability to develop and implement injury prevention programs and research at the community level. For more information on this course visit the Canadian Injury Prevention and Control Curriculum website
