Injury Prevention

Links

There are a number of programs and services available to prevent injury from happening in the first place. Among the programs Nova Scotia Health and Wellness is pleased to support are:

Child Safety Link

Child Safety Link, established to reduce the incidence and severity of injury to children and youth, offers a wealth of information and resources to prevent and deal with injuries.

P.A.R.T.Y.

The P.A.R.T.Y. (Prevent Alcohol and Risk-Related Trauma in Youth) Program is a one-day, in-hospital, injury-awareness and prevention program for youth age 16 and older.

Preventing Falls Together

Nova Scotia Health and Wellness supports this program, which is coordinated by Community Links.

Helmet Safety

Wearing a bike helmet is the law in Nova Scotia. But just wearing a helmet is not all it takes. You need to wear it correctly. Check out these tips from the Alberta Centre for Injury Control & Research. You should also visit Child Safety Link for helmet information for all types of outdoor activity.
