Blacklegged Ticks and You

Blacklegged tick

In the province of Nova Scotia there are many types of ticks. Blacklegged ticks are the only tick that carry Lyme disease, and are also known as deer ticks.

These ticks are smaller than dog or wood ticks and do not have white or silver coloured spots like other types of ticks.

According to the World Health Organization, the world is no longer in phase 6 of influenza pandemic alert. The new H1N1 virus has largely run its course and we are now moving into the post-pandemic period.
