Understanding Wait Times
Shorter wait times are important to you and it's a priority for us.
In 2006, Dr. Brian Postl, the federal advisor on wait times, said that Canadians need to be aware "just because there is a wait for care does not mean that the wait is medically unacceptable."
There are many times when you'll have to wait for a test or a procedure. There are even times when waiting is a necessary part of your care. Understanding how wait times are measured is an important first step to reducing unnecessary waits and getting you on the road to wellness sooner.

There are many steps in your journey to wellness. It includes everything from your first appointment with a family doctor to actual surgery and everything else in between.
While patients tend to measure wait times based on their full journey, we only capture wait time data for some steps along the way. Everyone's journey to wellness is different. There will be different times that you will wait along the way. Most of those times are captured in this website, but not all. Our goal is to shorten your wait wherever possible and provide better health care for you and your family.
