HealthLink 811

Nova Scotians have easy access to important health information from their home with the new HealthLink 811 service. When you call 811, registered nurses will give you the advice and information you need and provide reassurance concerning all kinds of general health issues and questions 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Advice and information may include a recommendation to see your doctor or visit your local emergency department. You can also obtain information about health issues and services available in your community.

  • promotion of self-care;
  • providing a reliable source of health related information;
  • reducing the need for travel for basic primary health-care advice;
  • increased capacity to respond to critical health related events across the province (e.g H1N1, fires, etc.); and
