Canada has one of the best health systems in the world. In Nova Scotia, the care provided is similar to that offered across Canada. And like other provinces, patient safety and quality are always our priorities.
Thousands of Nova Scotians get safe, quality care every day. Sometimes, however, the results of the care provided may not be as expected. When a negative outcome results from the care provided, this is referred to as an adverse event. While we know that no system is error-free, we continually work with our health partners to improve patient safety and quality, striving to be as close to error-free as possible.
We now know a lot more about what works to minimize hazards and errors in the health care system than ever before. We strive to create an environment where we openly discuss safety issues and learn from our experiences.
By working together and sharing information we are building a safer health system for now and in the future.
