A quorum was not in place therefore a discussion took place regarding some of the agenda. The following issues were discussed and will be brought forward at the next Registration Committee meeting.

1.0 Announcements

There are currently two vacant openings on the Registration Committee to be filled. Two ads have been circulated, one is for a P1 in the Northern Region, the second is for a P2 in the Eastern Region. The deadline for applications is February 29, 2000 @ 4:30 p.m.

2.0 Additions to Agenda

None

3.0 Approval of Minutes

Not approved - there was not a quorum in place to approve the minutes

4.0 Registration Issues

4.1 A.D.

It was decided that A.D. would not be approved for registration. A P1 Training Review Form Document must be completed and his application will be based on his EMT-Intermediate certificate and curriculum.

4.2 Registration of Approved Programs or Equivalents

No discussion

4.3 Registration of P2's (Modules)

The discussion concentrated on when the modules came to an end. The school of EHS will be contacted to see if we can get more clarification on this.

4.4 PCR In service

It was decided that the PCR In service would no longer be a registration requirement before receiving an ID tag or before being registered as "active". The PCR In-service will now be done through orientation at the company which hires the Paramedic.

4.5 Advancing from a P1 to a P2 or P3 - How are the re-registration dates effected?

It was decided that if a P1 successfully completes a P2 or P3 program their re-registration date would be moved up 2 years from the original date of re-registration.

4.6 What qualifies as Patient Contacts - re: Industrial "Paramedic"

It was discussed and it was felt that although the Industrial Paramedic's have Patient Contacts as a Primary Care Giver it is not at a Paramedic 1 Level but more at a First Aid Level. As a result of this their Patient Contacts would not be counted towards re-registration at the Paramedic 1 Level.

5.0 Business Arising

5.1 National Occupational Competency Profiles for Paramedicine

No Discussion

5.2 Legislation - Professions Association

The discussion focused on the Definition of the Profession, the Establishment of the Regulatory Body Board, Funding of the Board and Powers of the board. It was decided that each of those components would be worked on by a group. You will be receiving more information on this and each member of the Registration Committee and the Conduct and Competency Committee will be asked to be a part of one of the above working groups.
