1.0 Announcements Welcome to the newest members of Registration Committee. Brent Nicholson from the School of Allied Health, Sean Teed P1 , and Laurence Kaizer P2. We are looking forward to having you on the committee. 2.0 Additions to Agenda 2.1 Transferring Patients with IV's containing KCl or Antibiotics After a short discussion the recommendation was "NO", the transferring of patients with IV's containing KCl or antibiotics by P1's would not be approved at this time. 3.0 Approval of Minutes Minutes approved by Brent Nicholson, seconded by Brian Nickerson. 4.0 Registration Issues 4.1 Refresher courses - Inactive vs. Active (see policy 6003) After a discussion it was decided that some policy changes would be made. The Registrar will contact APPA and Ontario EHS to see if they can supply us with information on their registration policies, re-registration policies, inactive vs. active policies, refresher courses etc. A revised Draft of the Reactivation of Registration Policy 6003 is attached. 4.2 P1 Essential Competencies An updated P1 Essential Competencies policy was circulated. Please see the attached P1 Essential Competencies for the new changes. 4.3 Updated Terms of Reference An updated Terms of Reference was circulated. Please see the attached Terms of Reference for your information. 4.4 Re-Registration Letter & Verification Form It was decided by the committee that the re-registration letter and verification form would be approved with a few changes. Please see some of the following changes that will be made: For re-registration purposes a Paramedic's twenty (20) Patient Contacts no longer have to be as the "Primary Care Provider". Patient contacts now refer to calls where Paramedics are either the driver or the attendant. Paramedics will be credited as having a patient contact whenever their name and signature appear on a PCR either as the driver or the attendant. If EHSNS does not have record of a Paramedic's 20 patient contacts by the QA program, a Paramedic must provide the "full" MIN number and the Ambulance Service ID number (the verification form provides space for the Paramedic to keep track of these numbers to send to the registrar). Paramedics who wish to have other types of documented patient contacts considered must submit their documentation to the registrar for evaluation by the Registration Committee. Paramedics who provide ALS backup may submit the "full" MIN numbers and Ambulance Service ID numbers for credit. Under the base requirement for each level to re-register the Paramedic was to supply the registrar with a current BLS(C) provider or instructor certificate. ACLS provider or instructor certificate has been added as an alternative. Documentation of AED practice for P1's has been changed to annual re-certification instead of every two months. Once the EHSNS Database Paramedic Registry has been updated and the final drafts of the re-registration policy and the verification form have been approved we will provide you with copies for your information. 5.0 Business Arising 5.1 National Occupational Competency Profiles For Paramedics Please see the attached document concerning the National Occupational Competency Profile for Primary Care Paramedics.
