Nova Scotia Injury Prevention Strategy: Report and Recommendations

In May 2003, the Office of Health Promotion committed to develop a provincial Injury Prevention strategy. In collaboration with the EHS Nova Scotia Trauma Program, three consultation sessions were held in September and October of 2003. The Nova Scotia Injury Prevention Strategy: Report & Recommendations represents the result of those consultations, and it has been presented to government.

Injury Prevention is one of the Office of Health Promotion's key areas of focus and each of the strategy's recommendations are being considered in the overall strategic and budget planning for the Office of Health Promotion. Without question, the Office of Health Promotion is committed to reducing injury and is eager to begin implementing the strategy and to build on it in the coming years.

The development of this strategy was a huge effort that began with the valuable input of injury prevention stakeholders. These individuals and organizations care passionately about improving the health of Nova Scotians and their involvement in this process was invaluable. As the strategy rolls out in the future, the Office of Health Promotion looks forward to the continued involvement of stakeholders. Working together, we will make Nova Scotia injury-free.
