Inspection Program The EHS ground ambulance inspection program is focused on the safety of patients and paramedics who are transported, or operate these vehicles on a daily basis. The program also allows for the gathering and recording of data for Emergency Health Services, which is used by the regulator ( EHS ) to ensure compliance by the contractor, to policies and standards set forth in the EHSNS Operations Manual. The data is also used to identify trends such as , mileage per day, month, year, or incidents which are tracked per 100,000 kms. The system can also track vehicle performance which can assist greatly in making informed decisions when obtaining replacement vehicles for the fleet. A scheduled inspection day would generally consist of the following.
Random inspections are performed by visiting various sites across the province ie: Hospitals or ambulance bases, and inspecting a vehicle that is in service or just coming out of service. The inspection vehicle AU2 is a, retired type II ambulance, equipped with all the necessary tools, and equipment, ie: mechanical tools, jacks, gauges, lap top computer and printer to complete all inspections on site. All system vehicle records are electronically stored and reconciled at head office by inspection support staff, with a hard copy also generated for back-up purposes. The EHSNS ground ambulance inspection manual identifies the inspection process and the standards of measurement. The manual is presently in the first draft stage of development. |
