EHS LifeFlight provides critical care to ill and injured patients and immediate access to expert consultation and safe, timely air medical service.

EHS LifeFlight is regulated by the Nova Scotia Department of Health and managed by the private company, Emergency Medical Care, Inc. (EMC) though a performance-based contract.

Air ambulance service is a crucial component of Nova Scotia's pre-hospital system. It ensures that critically ill or injured patients that require specialized medical care can be transported to the health care facility that best meets their needs. Patients can be transported via air ambulance over large geographic areas much quicker than in a ground ambulance which can be a contributing factor to optimal patient outcomes. Rural communities, that may not be staffed or equipped to deal with all types of critical patients, rely heavily on air ambulance service in emergency situations.
