Nova Scotia Trauma Advisory Council
The Nova Scotia Trauma Program, has established a multidisciplinary Advisory Council whose role is to provide strategic advice and input on all aspects of trauma care in Nova Scotia, from prevention to rehabilitation
The Nova Scotia Trauma Advisory Council (NSTAC) meets quarterly and provides the following deliverables:

Advice and feedback to the Nova Scotia Trauma Program on all aspects of trauma care and injury control.

Input into the continuous development and improvement of Nova Scotia's trauma system.

Identification of current trauma care and injury control issues in members' respective communities.

Act as a forum whereby information regarding initiatives of the Nova Scotia Trauma Program can be disseminated among the member organizations/District Health Authorities

Advice specific to the development of injury control, data collection and surveillance, research, and public and provider education initiatives.
To further focus the efforts of the Advisory Council members, three subcommittees have been established:

Optimal Care Committee
-
Injury Prevention & Public Education
Committee
- Data Quality & Research
The role of each subcommittee is to identify issues/priorities within their scope and make recommendations or provide feedback to the Nova Scotia Trauma Program.
The Optimal Care Committee addresses issues of a clinical/patient care nature, such as trauma treatment and transfer guidelines, provider education, and system performance.
The
Injury Prevention & Public Education Committee addresses partnership development
and injury prevention priority setting. In terms of public education, this
Committee looks at injury prevention advocacy and injury prevention programming.
