The Primary Healthcare Information Management (PHIM) program is a provincial program offered by the Nova Scotia Department of Health and Wellness to support health care providers of Nova Scotia to implement and optimize the use of an electronic medical record system. The PHIM team is dedicated to streamlining the process to optimize the benefits an EMR can provide - from decision making, implementation and learning, to peer support and continuing education.
Primary health care focuses on promoting health, preventing illness, managing chronic diseases and treating people when they are sick, while ensuring continuity of care across the health system. The PHIM Program supports the Nova Scotia Department of Health and Wellness objective to increase access to Primary Health Care services across the province.
