Tourism Information

Welcome to Nova Scotia , where there is something for everyone: quiet rural retreats and world-class urban amenities. Here you will find the setting of Longfellow's poem Evangeline, and the locations of many Hollywood films. Renowned for our friendly hospitality, nothing makes us happier than to have visitors drop by and join our gathering. Come out and enjoy our music, food, history, entertainment, and most of all - our people!

Peggys CoveL ighthouse

Nova Scotia has long been famous for its breath-taking vistas, record-breaking schooners, and mouth-watering seafood. Another claim to fame is our rich tradition of music, which has, since the 1990s, taken the world by storm.

Traditional Scottish reels, toe-tapping Acadian jigs, inspirational gospel hymns, or blistering Celtic rock - our music expresses who we are. It's seen us through hard times (in 1956, men trapped in the Springhill mine for eight days without food or water survived on "songs and hope instead") and it has helped us celebrate the good times. Nova Scotians have always loved their music and now, it seems, so does the world.

Halifax

Founded in 1749 by Governor Edward Cornwallis, Halifax has a long and memorable history as the bastion of British strength in the New World . Today Halifax is vibrant, romantic, captivating, and filled with lively sidewalk and jazz cafes, theatres, and a casino.
