This plan is a framework for directing the work of the government and other provincial health system stakeholders Leading up to and during a pandemic. It will ensure that when an influenza pandemic occurs our healthcare system will be in the best position possible to manage it.

The goal of planning is to minimize serious illness and overall death, and to minimize societal disruption, in the event of an influenza pandemic. The scope of the plan includes:

  • guiding health sector response during an emergency
  • establishing a process to manage issues resolution
  • establishing communication processes for sharing information with stakeholders and the public, and addressing their concerns
  • clarifying command and control structures.
