Metadata Promotional Campaign
March 12, 2009 - 2:00 to 5:00 PM
GeoConnections is pleased to invite you to a metadata webinar presented by Land Information Ontario, Ministry of Natural Resources.
The objective of this webinar is to present to stakeholders the successes of the metadata promotional campaign project. Geospatial metadata provides the details surrounding the creation and ongoing maintenance of data. Well documented metadata is used both to locate data and to determine its appropriate use. Land Information Ontario has been supporting metadata efforts across the province since 2002 by providing tools, training, support and guidance to all organizations interested in cataloguing and publishing metadata.
A suite of training material has been developed by Land Information Ontario to educate organizations on the importance of creating and maintaining geospatial metadata. The material was presented to several Ontario Ministries, Conservation Authorities and Municipalities, with positive feedback.
The session will cover:
- the benefits of creating metadata;
- considerations for implementing metadata within your organization;
- an overview on the development of the North American Profile of the ISO 19115 geospatial metadata standard.
This project has been a joint venture between Land Information Ontario (LIO) and the U.S. Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC), and was made possible through funding from GeoConnections.
We look forward to your participation in the Metadata Promotional Campaign webinar.
