Nova Scotia Fish Registry Rules
Fish Registry Application Form
A Nova Scotia Fish Registry has been established to
serve as a database of large, and or, record fish
caught in the province. Many angling jurisdictions
maintain provincial or state records for large fish.
Nova Scotia boasts two entries in the Canadian National
Fish Registry: a 54.06 lb striped bass caught in the
Mira River, Cape Breton County in 1994 and a new Canadian
record for chain pickerel from Western Duck Pond,
Yarmouth county that weighed 5.77 lbs. breaking the
former record of 5.7 lbs. caught in Pothier's Mill
Pond, Yarmouth county. Up until now, Inland Fisheries
has kept unofficial records of large fish caught in
the province. Some of these records meet the criteria
for the Nova Scotia Fish Registry and are listed below.

Top 10 Lists
As this program develops and the number of entries
increased a Top 10 List will be established for each
of the species in the registry. Anglers are therefore
encouraged to submit entries for large fish even if
they may not break provincial records.
