Catch the Success of the Nova Scotia Seafood Festival!

Thank you to all of the contributors, participants and visitors who helped make this first time event a success.

A weekend filled with Nova Scotia seafood products, culinary trends and techniques, recipes, outstanding food and wine, live entertainment - even a taste of the ropes on a local fishing vessel - made the festival complete. The hosts are looking forward to planning an even bigger and better event in 2010!

Another Great Year at CBC Radio's Information Morning Birthday Celebration!

Deputy Roach lending a helping hand CBC Radio’s Information Morning turned 39 this year and our fish n' chips crew were happy to support the local event by serving our popular fish cakes, made by Chef Ted Grant of Gio restaurant.

Fish Cake Recipe, by Gio Chef Ted Grant

8 medium sized potatoes, peeled
1 small onion, diced
two bags salt cod
1 cup, haddock scrap (chopped into small pieces)
2 Tbsp, summer savory
Salt and pepper to taste

Method:

  • Peel potatoes and cook (whole) in salted water until soft. Slowly cook onion until translucent or soft and then cool. Boil salt cod in water, strain and repeat to reduce saltiness. Add all ingredients to a bowl, mix well and then form fishcakes. Coat a warm pan with oil, add fishcakes and brown both sides. Top with tartar sauce, salsa or delicious chow.
