Fisheries Field Services
Coastal Resource Coordinators act as a liaison between government, plant owners and Nova Scotia fishers and provide the following services:
  1. Work with the Nova Scotia Fisheries and Aquaculture, Marine Fisheries Division on development and incentive programs;

  2. Help fishers in the development of under utilized fish resources;

  3. Assist in supplying and filling out applications to be processed by the Nova Scotia Fisheries and Aquaculture Loan Board, including:

    • aquaculture applications
    • fish buyer applications
    • processing applications;

  4. Transfer boats to fishers through the Federal Registry of Shipping;

  5. Set up training programs for fishers through the Pictou School of Fisheries and outports;

  6. Conduct private pond inspections and aquaculture site inspections;

  7. Do site coordinates for aquaculture sites with a Differential Global Positioning System;

  8. Deal with product marketing concerns of fishers;

  9. Attend fishery advisory board meetings and write reports;

  10. Conduct a housekeeping inspection each year on fishing vessels for the Nova Scotia Department of Agriculture and Fisheries Loan Board.

  11. Work with wild life groups and the Inland Fisheries Division on lake stocking.
