Coastal
Resource Coordinators act as a liaison between government,
plant owners and Nova Scotia fishers and provide the following
services:
- Work with the Nova Scotia Fisheries and Aquaculture,
Marine Fisheries Division on development and incentive
programs;
- Help fishers in the development of under utilized fish resources;
- Assist in supplying and filling out applications
to be processed by the Nova Scotia Fisheries and Aquaculture Loan Board,
including:
- aquaculture applications
- fish buyer applications
- processing applications;
- Transfer boats to fishers through the Federal Registry of Shipping;
- Set up training programs for fishers through the Pictou School of Fisheries and outports;
- Conduct private pond inspections and aquaculture site inspections;
- Do site coordinates for aquaculture sites with a Differential Global Positioning System;
- Deal with product marketing concerns of fishers;
- Attend fishery advisory board meetings and write reports;
- Conduct a housekeeping inspection each year on fishing vessels for the Nova Scotia Department of Agriculture and Fisheries Loan Board.
- Work with wild life groups and the Inland
Fisheries Division on lake stocking.
