Community Development Program

Nova Scotia is recognised as the leading fishing province in Canada. Our Community Development Program is designed to encourage coastal communities to take ownership of their own port infrastructure.

  • A collaborative approach with provincial, federal and private partners stimulates the development in coastal communities.
  • Nova Scotia administers a client-led program where groups apply for funding on a cost-shared basis to construct floating wharves, vessel haul-outs, wharf winches and group bait freezers.
  • Our Community Development Program has improved safety, access to coastal waterways, and vessel berthing in most harbours of Nova Scotia.
