The Coastal Management Framework represents a commitment by the Government of Nova Scotia toward a more coordinated and strategic approach to coastal management. In simple terms, the Coastal Management Framework lays a foundation for governments and citizens to work together to ensure the sustainable use and protection of our coastal areas and resources. It builds upon existing provincial and departmental commitments, mandates and capacities, while recognizing the fundamental importance of collaboration with other levels of government, stakeholders and interest groups. The Coastal Management Framework sets out six strategic activities, which will help us to better understand and manage priority coastal issues in Nova Scotia. These strategic activities will assist the Government of Nova Scotia in achieving its vision for coastal management as identified in the Framework.
