Nova Scotia’s sustainable aquaculture industry continues to look for opportunities to develop better management practices and access new markets. There is an increasing market demand for products meeting certification standards, and the road to certification can often be time consuming and cost-prohibitive.
The Nova Scotia Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture has established the Aquaculture Industry Certification Fund. On a cost-shared basis, it provides financial assistance to aquaculturists for certification related projects aimed at increasing sustainability or market access.
