Aquaculture Development Fund

The aquaculture industry in Nova Scotia relies on research and applied development, as do others around the world. Establishing a new, sustainable resource industry with exceptional growth potential requires substantial development funding.

To keep pace with other aquaculture jurisdictions, industry in Nova Scotia must continuously find better and more efficient ways to culture fish and marine plants in our coastal waters or in land-based facilities.

The Nova Scotia government can play an important role in development if the aquaculture industry is to undergo significant expansion.

The Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture will provide financial assistance on a cost-shared basis to aquaculturists with innovative projects and for other initiatives intended to increase the competitiveness and productivity of the industry.

The province's contribution for these projects may allow aquaculturists to access other funding sources.
