More Nova Scotians work as teachers and university professors than in fish processing, forestry and construction put together. In fact, [NS] has the largest number of universities per capita of any province, making it one of the most knowledge-intensive regions in the country.In Nova Scotia......The North American economy has been driven by big industrial engines..[such as].. automobile manufacturing and parts. But in the new economy, this engine has been replaced by computers and semiconductors... health and medicine has surplanted housing .... communications and telecommunications has taken [over] from transportation.
