The Economics and Statistics Division is the Nova Scotia Statistics Agency as established by the Nova Scotia Statistics Act. The Division provides access to comprehensive, reliable and timely economic and social statistics. It provides analytical and advisory services to the Province of Nova Scotia, adding value to the provincial government decision-making process.

In Halifax October 2009, labour force declined 0.3% over September 2009 to 229,800 and increased 3.8% over October 2008.

Employment declined 0.5% (1,100) over September 2009 to 214,100 and increased 2.2% over October 2008.
