FOOD BANK USE 2009

In Nova Scotia March 2009 the number of people assisted by a food bank increased 20.3% (3,429 people) to 20,344 people (or 2.2% of population) over March 2008.

In Canada March 2009 the number of people assisted by a food bank increased 17.6% (119,003 people) to 794,738 people (or 2.4% of population) over March 2008.

APARTMENT BUILDING CONSTRUCTION PRICE INDEX 3RD QUARTER 2009

In Halifax 3rd quarter 2009, the apartment building construction price composite index (2002=100) declined 0.2% from the 2nd quarter 2009 to 130.4 , and increased 0.1% over the 3rd quarter 2008.

In Canada 3rd quarter 2009, the apartment building construction price composite index (2002=100) declined 1.6% from the 2nd quarter 2009 to 134.5 , and declined 9.6% over the 3rd quarter 2008.

Statistics Canada Quote:

"Year over year, the composite price index for apartment building construction was down 9.6%. Of the CMAs surveyed, Vancouver (-18.5%) recorded the largest decrease, while Montréal (+1.5%) and Halifax (+0.1%) had the only increases.

LARGE URBAN TRANSIT SEPTEMBER 2009

In Canada September 2009, the combined ridership on 10 large urban transit systems increased 0.6% over September 2008 to 135.8 million passenger trips. Year-to-date trips declined 1.0% over Jan-Sep 2007 to 1.1 billion passenger trips.

Transit revenue (excluding subsidies) increased 3.4% over September 2008 to $242.3 million. Year-to-date revenue increased 1.0% over Jan-Sep 2007 to $1.9 billion.
