• Annual Indexation - Minor Injury Cap
  The 2012 minor injury cap has been calculated at $7,956 in accordance with the Automobile Accident Minor Injury Regulations. The cap on minor injuries is reviewed annually to reflect changes in the Consumer Price Index for Nova Scotia for the previous calendar year.
  
• Nova Scotia's December Forecast Update for the 2011-2012 fiscal year, released December 15, shows Nova Scotia is running $24.3 million ahead of where the province expected to be on budget day, with a projected deficit of $365.2 million. Read the Minister's remarks.
  
• Automobile insurance reforms announced on November 9, 2011 strike a balance between fairness, affordability and stability to provide better coverage and more choice for Nova Scotians.

• Nova Scotia's September Forecast Update for the 2011-2012 fiscal year, released September 13, shows Nova Scotia is running $70.4 million ahead of where the province expected to be, with a projected deficit of $319.2 million.
• The Nova Scotia Government is making good on its promise to refund provincial income tax to seniors who receive the Guaranteed Income Supplement.
• Indexed Minor Injury Cap Released for 2011
  The revised minor injury cap for 2011 is $7,665, which reflects Nova Scotia's 2.2 per cent consumer price index.

Province's Budget Update Shows Spending Controls Working
The province's latest quarterly update demonstrates that departmental spending is expected to be under budget for the third year in a row. The update also recognizes global economic uncertainty by revising some economic assumptions and projects a deficit of $365.2 million, an improvement of $24.3 million from the budget estimate.

• We have upgraded our charting software.  The profiles and charts found on our website are now Iphone/Ipad compatible!
• Browse data by Socio-Economic Status
  
  A new tool has been added to Community Counts.  Data can now be displayed by Socio-Economic Status.  This SES tool lets users choose and combine key social and economic indicators to compare communities on a simple SES scale. The results are displayed in table and map formats.

• New assets have been added to the Map Centre:  Nova Scotia Publishers, Food Banks and Conseil de développement économique de la Nouvelle-Écosse locations.
