Browse Data by Socio-Economic Status

Socio-Economic Status (SES) is a relative measurement of people and communities. SES indicators are correlated with determinants of health, risk factors for crime, and other root causes of social issues.

This SES tool lets users choose and combine key social and economic indicators to compare communities on a simple SES scale. The results are displayed in table and map formats.

The ten SES indicators listed below provide a menu of choices for the user to decide which are most relevant to their communities. The indicators on the menu were identified by Provincial government Departments (including Justice, Community Services, Health and Wellness, Education) as important determinants of program need.

Based on three user-selected indicators, the Socio-Economic Status tool generates aggregate ratings for a selected geographic level. The scale ranges from +6 to -6. For more information, read the SES Backgrounder.
