Population
Based on the 2006 Census of Population, Advocate Harbour has a population of 865 which is 10.6% lower than in 1996. In 2006, 17.1% of the population was under the age of 20 and 27.2% was 65 years or older.
In comparison, Nova Scotia has a population of 913,465 which is 0.5% higher than in 1996. 22.8% of the population was under the age of 20 and 15.1% was 65 years or older.

Family StructureIn Nova Scotia, family structure has shifted from the traditional larger married families to smaller married families and an increase in both common-law and lone-parent families.
