Based on the 2011 Census of Population, Tidnish has a population of 1,192 which is 8.0% higher than in 2001. In 2011, 17.2% of the population was under the age of 20 and 22.7% was 65 years or older.
In comparison, Nova Scotia has a population of 921,725 which is 1.5% higher than in 2001. 21.2% of the population was under the age of 20 and 16.6% was 65 years or older.

Family StructureIn Nova Scotia, family structure has shifted from the traditional larger married families to smaller married families and an increase in both common-law and lone-parent families. In 2011, for Tidnish, total census families increased 8.0% to 411. Married families increased by 18.8% while common law families decreased 7.8% and lone-parent families decreased 3.8%. Lone female parent families were 9.7% of all families while lone male parents were 2.9% of all families. In Nova Scotia, total census families increased 2.7% to 270,065. Married families increased by -2.1% while common law families increased 28.3% and lone-parent families increased 5.9%.
