 Volunteer Lay Members - Advisory Committees on Adjudicative Agencies, Boards and Commissions

These non-partisan Advisory Committees are responsible for choosing members for government agencies, boards and commissions with adjudicative (quasi-judicial) functions. Each committee is comprised of a government human resources professional, two civil servants, and two volunteer lay members. Each committee convenes at least twice a year to review applications and recommend qualified candidates for appointment. Committee members serve for a two year term and are reimbursed for reasonable out-of-pocket expenses incurred in the course of their activities.

Applicants should have demonstrated the following in their work, volunteer, or other life experiences:

  • respect for the essential dignity of all persons regardless of their circumstances
  • strong professional work ethic
  • a collaborative/flexible approach
  • effective and prompt decision making abililty
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • experience in recruitment and selection would be considered an asset; however, it is not essential.

These are voluntary non-civil servant assignments.

Each committee will convene at least twice a year to review applications and recommend qualified candidates for appointment.
