"The decisions of our board are reached through the discussion and the consensus of members. This is important as every decision we make as a board will affect and thereby shape to some extent the future of each student who appears before us. I love being a volunteer board member and helping students realize their educational goals."
- Michelle Fougere, Member of Student Aid Appeal Committee
The Province of Nova Scotia needs men and women from all walks of life to serve the public on Nova Scotia’s adjudicative and non-adjudicative agencies, boards, & commissions (ABCs).

ABCs are provincial organizations established by statute or regulation. Most board members are appointed to ABCs by Ministerial appointment or Order in Council.
Adjudicative ABCs consider evidence, make findings of fact and law, and issue decisions affecting a person's liberty, security, or legal rights. Adjudicative boards serve various roles and diverse interests and have quasi-judicial functions.
Non-Adjudicative ABCs make financial, regulatory, business, or policy decisions or recommendations to government that have far-reaching implications for all Nova Scotians.
